SCREEN RESOLUTION:

The e-Newspaper is best viewed when your screen is set to a resolution of at least 1024 pixels wide.

Opening your window to full screen mode (keyboard shortcut F11 on many systems) also serves to enhance the presentation of the Electronic Newspaper.

MAIN NAVIGATION METHODS:

There are several other ways to navigate through the e-Newspaper:


1.

Use the navigation buttons, which appear at the top of the window:

 

 

a.

To move immediately to Page 1, left click on the “First” arrow or word.

b.

To move backward through the paper, left click on the “Prev” arrow or word.

c.

To move forward through the paper, left click on the “Next” arrow or word.

d.

To move immediately to the last page, left click on the “Last” arrow or word.

 

2.

Use the pull-down list of pages located in the top center of the window.

 
 

a.

Left click on the menu’s pull-down arrow.

b.

From the list of pages that appears, left click on the page you want to view.

 

3.

Use the pull-down list of publication sections located in the top center of the window.

 
 

a.

Left click on the menu’s pull-down arrow.

b.

From the list of sections that appears, left click on the section you want to view.

 

4.

Use the pull-down list of dates located in the top center of the window.

 
 

a.

Left click on the menu’s pull-down arrow.

b.

From the list of dates that appears, left click on the date of the edition you want to view.

VIEWING & FORMAT MODE OPTIONS OVERVIEW:

There are several ways to change the format used to display pages and articles.

 
 

Read the publication in the default mode by clicking on the “Index” button. The is the mode the e-Newspaper opens in, showing the full page on the left and the index on the right. Click anywhere on the full page image to view in more detail on the right.

Browse the publication in Flash mode by clicking on the “Single” or “Double” button. These views display either one or two pages at a time, and have additional controls available for taking a “clipping” of an area of the page. Please see the following sections for more details on using our Flash features.

To view a collection of ”thumbnail images” of every page in the publication, click on the “Thumbnails” button. You can then click on one of the thumbnail images to have that page displayed in the previous viewing mode. Or you can download selected pages as PDF files.

To view the pages in a mode optimized for slow download speeds, click on the “56k” button.

BROWSE (FLASH) MODE:

BROWSE MODE is a Flash based interface which enables the user to read the publication in an advanced, interactive format. Either a single page or a double page spread can be viewed in this mode.

 

Navigate through the e-Newspaper in Browse Mode using any of these methods:


Click the page, or press the Insert/Delete keys, to zoom in/out on the current page.

 

When you are zoomed ...

*

Use the mouse wheel to scroll up and down.

*

Use the arrows keys (Num Lock off) to scroll in all directions.

*

Grab the page by clicking on it, then drag the mouse to move in any direction.

*

Use the tool bar to change the zoom percentage, turn pages or zoom out
to double page view.

*

Double-clicking over an article will switch between Browse and Single Page.

   

Click on the sides of the pages, or click the top outside corner to automatically turn the page.

   

Grab the top outside corner of the page by clicking it; then drag it toward the center of the publication to turn the page manually.

   

Press the Page-Up/Page-Down keys to turn pages backward/forward.

   

Press the Home/End keys to jump to the first/last page.

   

These buttons also can be used to turn pages backward/forward.

   

These buttons can be used to zoom in and out on a page. Once zoomed in, a vertical slider bar will appear to allow additional zoom control.

   

This button enlarges the e-Newspaper to the full size of your monitor. When enlarged, click either this button or the Escape key on your keyboard to return to your previous viewing size.

INDEX WITH TEXT/GRAPHIC VIEWING MODE:

The Index reading mode is the default viewing mode. Click on an area in the lefthand frame to have it displayed in the righthand frame. There are several buttons above the righthand frame that act on the content displayed there.

 

1.

Toggle the displayed content between Text and Graphic viewing modes. You can change the default viewing mode to always be Text or Graphic by using the Visual Mode dropdown menu.

 

2.

Increase or decrease the size of text in the displayed article.

 

3.

Print or email the displayed content (article, image, ad, etc).

 

4.

This button will return to the lefthand frame the page that contains the content showing in the righthand frame. This button is useful when viewing results from a search.

 

5.

This dropdown box allows you to select a language for the display of articles in Text Mode. Select the language, then click on an article for it to be translated.

 

6.

This button can be used to listen to a reading of the article that is currently displayed in the right side of the screen. Or you can download an MP3 file of the reading, to listen to later. You will need a working MP3 audio player on your computer to listen to an article (Windows Media Player is a common player.)

PRINT, EMAIL OR DOWNLOAD A “clipping” FROM BROWSE (FLASH) MODE:

1.

Enter Flash mode by clicking either the “Single” or “Double” viewing mode button. Then click the Clip, Email or Print buttons along the right edge of the e-Newspaper.

 

2.

A new window will open, displaying your selected page with a highlighted area to “clip”. Click and drag on the box that outlines the highlighted area, to adjust the dimensions and location of your clipping.

 

3.

The Email button above the clip area allows you to email the clip.

 

4.

The Download/Print button will allow you to save or print a PDF file of the clip. (PDF files can be viewed using several programs, including free Adobe Acrobat Reader software.)


PRINT OR EMAIL ADS, ARTICLES, IMAGES FROM INDEX READING MODE:

From the Index reading mode click on an area in the lefthand frame to have it displayed in the righthand frame. There are several buttons above the righthand frame that act on the content displayed there.

Print or email the displayed content (article, image, ad, etc).

SEARCH OPTIONS AND RESULTS:

There are two (2) ways to Search the e-Newspaper:


1.

Type the word(s) to search for into the “Quick Search” input box at the top right side of the window.  Press the Enter key on your keyboard and your search results will appear in the left side of the browser.

 

2.

Left click on the “Advanced Search” button at the top right side of the window.  This will pop-up a window where you can enter several conditions for your search, such as which sections to search or which dates to search.  After your conditions have been entered, press the Search button in the pop-up window and your search results will appear in the left side of the browser.


Click on an article title in the search results listing to have that article displayed in the right side of the screen.


Left click on the “E-Notify” button to start, stop or adjust this feature. E-Notify allows you to define a search of the newspaper to be run weekly, with the results emailed to you automatically.

DOWNLOAD PDF OPTIONS:

Each page of the publication is available as a PDF file.

 

PDF files can be viewed using several programs, including free Adobe Acrobat Reader software.

 

To download or view just a portion of a page (an article, ad or image) please see the section on Printing, Emailing and Sharing Articles. To download or view an entire page as a PDF file:


1.

Left click on the “Thumbnails” or “PDF” button to display thumbnail images of all the pages in the publication.

 

2a.

To download one page of the publication, left click the PDF symbol next to the image of the page you would like. You will be prompted to then save or view that PDF file.

 

2b.

To download all pages of the publication, left click the “Download Complete Edition” link next to the image of the publication's front page. Then click on the "Click here to download it" link when it appears.

 

2c.

To download only selected pages of the publication, left click in the box beside the name of the page that you would like to view or download.

 

This will result in a check mark appearing in the box. (Left click again to erase the check mark.) You may place check marks next to more than one page if you wish.

 

When all desired pages have been selected, left click on the "Download selected pdf" link next to the image of the publication's front page.

 

Then click on the "Click here to download it." link when it appears.

 

3.

At this point your browser may give you the option of opening or saving the file containing the publication pages.

 

If you selected multiple pages in step 2, each page will be in a PDF file, and the multiple PDF files will be in a single zip file.

 

If Acrobat Reader does not automatically unzip this file you can use any unzip program to do so before viewing the PDFs.

Left click on the “Marketplace” button to view and search all display ads from our newspaper.



Left click on the “Log Out” button to end your viewing session.

HOW TO ACCESS AND UPDATE YOUR e-Newspaper ACCOUNT ONLINE:

Left click on the “Account” button to purchase or review your access to the Electronic Newspaper, or to change your password.

If you have purchased a subscription that automatically renews, there will be a “Det.” link in the Account Information display. Click this link to view details of your subscription, including the Subscription ID.

Account details example


To cancel a renewing subscription:
1) log into your Paypal account at www.paypal.com
2) find the Subscription ID in your transaction History
3) click the Details link for the subscription
4) click the Cancel Subscription button

If instead of a subscription you have purchased access to individual dates of the Electronic Newspaper, use the Viewed tab to see dates that you've previously viewed/paid for.

Need to change your password?   
•  If you are already logged into the Electronic Newspaper, click the Account button, then the Password tab.
  •  If you need to reset your password and you can't log in, click the "Forgot Password?" link under the login boxes on the left side of the Electronic Newspaper. Enter your username (email address) and we'll email a temporary password to you. After you have logged in using the temporary password, you can follow the directions above to change your password to one of your choosing.
